Jesus wept. Then the Jews said, “See how he loved him!” John 11:35-36.
Some people are skeptical of the suggestion that Jesus understands human issues and problems. They assume that the Lord Jesus is someone faraway and aloof, removed from everyday life and only cares about very important matters, or if He cares at all about inconsequential matters that relate to the personal lives of people. Well, I'm writing this blog post to tell you He does. He cares because He loves you!
Unfortunately, such attitudes and assumptions are a misconception of God and His loving interest in the world He created and the human beings for whom His Son Jesus the Christ died for and was resurrected. Click here to find out what the resurrection of Jesus Christ means.
It is true we worship a God who is King of kings and Lord of lords; however, we should not forget this truth: Jesus is not only our Master but also our Friend, if we are His servants who obey His commands (John 15:14). Because Jesus lived, suffered, and died as a human being, He understands human problems and emotions; He experienced them Himself. The above scripture recorded in John 11:35-36, is evidence of Jesus’ understanding of grief and sorrow when we mourn the death of family and those we love. Although He knew He would raise Lazarus from the dead, still He empathized with Martha and Mary’s sorrow, and His own because they were His friends whom He loved. He is the same loving Savior, Son of God, who loves and understands us.
For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin. -Hebrews 4:15 NIV
The good news is Jesus is waiting for you to invite Him into your life. Open your heart to Him so that He can help you in whatever circumstances or challenges you may find yourself. Remember, He gets you. He knows you. He loves you. He wants to be the Friend who will never leave or abandon you!
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, Thank You for understanding me! I believe You are the Savior of the world, the Son of God, who died for every human being. Come into my heart. I acknowledge I need help and believe You are the only One who can. I want You to be my friend that I can depend on to love me unconditionally, be faithful and understanding. Thank You for receiving me as I yield to You every area of my life. Thank You for Your sacrificial love shown to me. Amen.
